Just a quick update: Our next Men2Serve gathering (aka active-worship for you Men2Servers who typically attend church on Sunday mornings; civic-service for you Men2Servers of a more humanitarian persuasion and everyone in between) will take place on Sunday June 9th.
At first glance it looks like we will work at two service sites:
Ray Irwin's place: We will do some prep and painting of soffits and around windows for Ray, an 85 year old man (for whom we did some plumbing work for this past winter) who desperately wants to stay in his home if at all possible.
Joe Vargo's place: (that's Joe [above] helping us at Ray's place this past winter) and it's time for some payback! Joe, whom many of you know, has been receiving chemo treatments due to a recurrence of cancer. The treatments leave him exhausted, light/noise sensitive and sometimes a bit wobbly. He's tough, but it's hard to keep up with his place. So, we will be trimming, raking and hauling leaves off his property for him (here's a pic).
Will keep you updated as the date draws nearer!
If you are interested......
Finally, if you are interested, yours truly will be delivering the message at the 10 am service this Sunday May 19th at Great Valley Presbyterian Church (2025 Swedesford Road, Malvern, PA 19355) and you are more than welcome to sit in....no eggs or tomatoes, please. :-)
The title is: 'What Eli, Graham Smith (and the rest of us) have in common.' It's a fun message to deliver.... sneak peak: Eli was a clergyman who got many things wrong, but occasionally got some things right. He was rather schizophrenic in his relationship with God. I don't know about you, but I can relate.
All the best,
