My fellow M2S'ers:
Neither sleet, nor snow, nor rain, nor dark of night prevented you from serving yesterday! A special 'thank you' to Jeff for reminding us that understanding and internalizing the fact that 'God is love' should rock our world's.... in the best possible way. Thanks Jeff!
Julian was almost giddy with excitement at getting all that junk out of the basement of the Children's Learning Center!
Jesse was both shocked and altogether grateful, that you were able to get all that shrubbery removed around his pond.
Here are a couple of pics. I arrived late to the Children's Ed Center so I didn't get any pics of the entire team, for which I apologize!
I will be in touch with Tim McAvoy and his son Will, about going over during the week or next weekend, to give Joe Vargo a hand with his spring cleaning!
I was reminded yesterday that what many of the people we serve appreciate, as much as the service we offer, is simply our company. Many of them love having conversations with many of you. I often find myself arriving at a site, obsessing about 'getting things done' to the neglect of slowing down and talking with those we are serving. In short, I realized, yesterday, that the 'end' is not so much the 'task.' Rather, the 'task' is but a 'means' to the 'end' which, according to Jesus is to 'love one's neighbor as oneself.' Love takes many forms. For some it's carrying stuff to a dumpster on a rainy day. For others it's hacking your way through soaking wet bush and trample. For still others, it's simply standing next to the person we are serving, just to listen to, and chat with, them.
At least from my vantage point, yesterday each of you took your respective seats within the divine orchestra, from which you hit your respective notes and contributed, in a way no one else could, to the dive melody.,,,,and it was wonderful to behold.
Thank you for doing it so very well.
